The test kitchen chefs cook America’s favorite recipes with host Christopher Kimball and deconstruct each recipe to reveal the test kitchen secrets to foolproof cooking at home. The 2,500-square-foot test kitchen in which America’s Test Kitchen is shot is the same kitchen where three dozen full-time test cooks work, testing and retesting recipes 20, 30, and sometimes 50 times, until they find the recipe that they are confident will work every time. Great recipes are the heart of the show, but the cooktops & ovens are a must in the test kitchen. DCS by Fisher & Paykel has outfitted the test kitchen with a total of 53 burners capable of producing 855,000 BTU’s. A DCS 36-inch Professional 6-Burner Gas Cooktop, Fisher & Paykel 36-inch Electric Cooktop as well as eight DCS 30-inch Double Wall Ovens, and 1 DCS 24-inch Tradional Microwave Oven are used in the test kitchen on a daily basis.

Whether filming a show or developing recipes, the test kitchen is always packed with food. Keeping everything fresh, 14 refrigerators are located around the kitchen, including the DCS 36-inch ActiveSmart™ Refrigerator – French Door, DCS 24-inch Outdoor Bar Refrigerator, and DCS 15-inch Ice Maker.

Don’t forget that the test kitchen cooks outside! Grill segments are filmed in the alley out back and they rely on the DCS 36-inch Professional Grill. For the cold weather, they keep the alley warm with two DCS Freestanding Patio Heaters.

All that cooking means a lot of dirty dishes. DCS by Fisher & Paykel’s Double DishDrawer Tall does all of the tidying up on the set and the DCS 30-inch Warming Drawer keeps food warm while cameras reset.
